J. R. Albert was interested in promoting healthy living
and wellness, and hoped that the growing prevalence of
obesity-related diseases and their effects on quality of
life could be prevented whenever possible.
Founded in Nov. 2007, the J. R. Albert Foundation
provides support to nonprofit organizations in
Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri and Kansas whose purpose is:
To increase access to healthy foods by developing
local food delivery systems,
increasing distribution of fresh foods, and work in
sustainable agriculture, urban farms, and community gardens.
To provide food
to those who are in need, by supporting large
regional food banks.
To provide
nutrition and wellness education and
opportunities, particularly in economically disadvantaged populations.
We are especially interested in collaborative efforts
towards community change.
